Damaged N.L. trawler begins trip home

A shrimp trawler damaged by fire in Canada's North began its journey home to Newfoundland on Tuesday morning after most of its crew was removed from the vessel.
Five crew members were airlifted from the Newfoundland Lynx, a processing vessel owned by Ocean Choice International, by a search and rescue Cormorant helicopter Monday, and taken to Iqualuit to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Ten other people were transferred to the Acadienne Gale II, which began towing the Lynx back to Bay Roberts, N.L.
Twelve crew members remained aboard the Newfoundland Lynx.
A fire broke out in the processing area of the five-year-old factory freezer vessel at around 8 p.m. Sunday, knocking out its power.
The shrimp trawler was working at the mouth of Frobisher Bay, off Baffin Island in Nunavut.
A representative from Ocean Choice International told CBC News the Newfoundland Lynx is in no danger of sinking.
